Many people are interested in this new technology in Nepal after it was included in the budget. Finance Minister Pun announced through the budget that the construction work of the podway would be carried out by studying the feasibility and fixing the investment structure.

The Finance Minister has mentioned in the budget that a feasibility study will be conducted in Gorkha, the constituency of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.

It has been announced that the construction work of the podway transport system from Bimalnagar of Prithvi Highway to Ligligkot-Bhachchek-Barpak-Bungkot-Gorkhabazar-Manakamana-Benighat of Gorkha will be carried out. Podway transportation technology is new to Nepal.

Stakeholders say that although it looks like a cable car at first glance, it can be developed as a public transport. Transport infrastructure expert Ashish Gajurel said it was positive that the state should give priority to the podway as it is a suitable technology for Nepal. "It is good to include the topic of studying the feasibility of podway in the budget," Gajurel said, adding, "It is positive that the state should take the new technology seriously." I find it suitable for Nepal. ’

Stating that there was a need to improve public transport in Nepal, he said that podway could be an alternative according to geography.

"We need improvement in public transport. Podway is one of the latest transport facilities. Podway is a compact form of rail. ’

According to him, he has a technical analysis that podway can be an alternative according to the geography of Nepal.

Stating that cable cars are being used more in Nepal as a tourist destination, Gajurel said the podway would be suitable for public transport. He says that although the cable car does not have a gondola, there is a wire walk and after the wire, there is a difference in the podway.

He informed that podway is a compact form of railway technology. "A strong system has been put in place to fix the pod. In the train that is stuck there, the wheel of the pod will pass through the pod and the passengers sitting on it," he said, adding, "The cable car is the ropeway system and the podway is the railway system." He expressed happiness that the study would be carried out in the budget taking it positively as per the suggestions given by them to the government. He said that the government has said that it will move forward if the study finds it feasible, so it should not comment negatively now.

"It has been said that the study will be done in the beginning in the budget and if the study is found feasible, it will move forward," he said. Economic, social and technical aspects will be understood during the study. It is not right to start making negative comments right now. If you are negative in the beginning, you cannot start a new job. ’

Podways can be an alternative to public transport

Most of nepal's roads are in disarray due to increasing vehicular use and limited infrastructure. Talking about the Valley, it takes at least an hour to travel 10 kilometers. People have always been suffering due to chaotic roads and lack of traffic management. The situation is the same not only in the Valley but also outside the Valley. It is very difficult to reach on time as assessed by the general public.

Developed countries are making travel easier by adopting various technologies to manage public transport. Rich countries have made it easier for the common people to travel by rail or by developing various other technologies.

Nepal has not been able to even blacktop the roads that have reached most places while managing public transportation with the use of technology. At the same time, many people have lost their lives due to lack of public transport.

At different times, the government has committed to make the transport service faster and faster. However, due to lack of budget and other problems, the projects could not be implemented. Although the government has announced rail, mano and metro rail to ease public transportation, it has not been successful.
